Reception[]

The first season of the show has been criticized for containing inappropriate and offensive material, in particular the usage of slurs in Episodes 5 and 7. The show's creator has gone on to apologize for and criticize the usage of slurs in these episodes, and from Season 2 onwards, the show has not contained any inappropriate content.

Though the original uploads of Season 1 have been deleted, the like/dislike ratio was negative for most episodes prior to deletion[3].

Impact and Legacy[]

While the show has faded into relative obscurity over the years (with the 2015 reupload of episodes 1-7 sitting at just over 29,000 views as of February 2024), the show has become somewhat of a cult classic, having been described as “so bad it's good” by some. While it is not considered a joke show itself, Random Object Battle Royale could be considered a precursor to the joke show genre due to its surrealness and absurd humor, which has left some viewers questioning whether it is indeed a joke show.

The 2014 episode Hit The Stage has been cited as an early example of explicit LGBT representation in object shows, as it features a scene in which four characters (Friend Token, Heart, Igloo and Pickaxe) come out as Transgender women.

Battle For The Object Kingdom[]

Main article: Battle For The Object Kingdom

Battle For The Object Kingdom, (abbreviated as BFTOK) is a show similar to ROBR, which was created by Alex and Cepukka and began around March of 2013, and ran during the gap between ROBR episode 3 and 4a. BFTOK was hosted by iPad and co-hosted by Golf Club.

Prior to ROBR and BFTOK, two shows called Battle for Sky Island and Milkining Island were made by the same creator. Only one episode of the former (dated January 21st 2013) is known to exist on YouTube[Link 1], whilst the latter is considered lost media.

Trivia[]

  • In the finale of KhoreoOSC's OSC Trivia series (Episode 15: TTGuy vs SnowyPackel), the character Arekz appeared as the final silhouette in the Silhouettes segment.
  • In RedBreloom's reupload of Episodes 1-7, two songs were muted, likely due to copyright issues. These songs, which are only faintly audible in the reupload, are:
    • "It Burns, Burns, Burns" by Loco Loco (also known as Very Hot), which played during the ending credits in Eight Ways To Die.
    • "Heart of Courage" by Two Steps From Hell, which played during the elimination in New One New Time.
  • In the reuploaded versions of Season 2's episodes, the intro has been removed. This may have been due to its similarity to the BFB intro.

Notes[]

  1. The exact release date is unknown, but episodes 1-3 of ROBR are believed to have released sometime before ROBR's sister show, Battle for the Object Kingdom, which came out sometime before March 28th 2013, as this Sparta Remix of BFTOK Episode 2 came out on that day.
  2. Despite sometimes being referred to by the other's name, Alex and Arekz are canonically separate characters. This was hinted at in The Cave of Nightmares, and confirmed in Welcome To The Millennium Ship.
  3. Blue Planet originally appeared in the show Challenge To Win, being the host of said show as well as its second season, Challenge 2 Win.
  4. Since the start of Season 2, Cola Cup has been replaced by a character named Juicey. This character is a fusion of Cola Cup and the scrapped character Juice Box. Interestingly, Juicey is female, while Cola Cup was originally considered male.
  5. Hit The Stage never directly states how many dislikes Ball or Heart received. However, according to the script, Ball received 8 dislikes while Heart received 11.
  6. While viewers were able to vote on Episode 7, Episode 8 ignored the results of said vote. The exact voting results are unknown, but Maple Leaf likely received the most dislikes. In an early version of the script, Marker was originally going to be eliminated with 3 contestant votes.

"The first episode in chronological order is New One, New Time from Random Object Battle Royale on January 10th. Over the last two weeks, this episode has evolved into one of the most hated episodes in the OSC. There are many reasons to hate it, too. Not even a third of the ratings is likes. It seems like a troll episode, only it isn't." (Retreived December 19th 2023)
